AACT Internships Are Available Now!

Since 2011, the Advocacy Alliance Center of Texas (AACT) has been working with the community to help increase voter turnout in South Texas. By committing to year-round efforts to educate and engage citizens of the Rio Grande Valley, we are helping to bring about the importance of voting. AACT is a great place for college students and young adults who are politically inclined, socially engaged and looking to make a positive impact in the community. We are proud to announce the following internship opportunities:

  • Marketing Internship
  • Community Outreach Internship
  • Data and Research Internship

These internships will allow students and young adults to gain experience in networking with managers and decision makers while helping to coordinate campaigns and events that raise awareness and mobilize the vote in South Texas.

Marketing Internship

Based at: The Advocacy Alliance Center of Texas (AACT)

Job purpose: To organize marketing campaigns that will create awareness and mobilize the vote in the communities of the Rio Grande Valley.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Implement social/online media methods
  • Monitor all social/online efforts
  • Create e-mail campaigns
  • Update database
  • Aid with creation of signage
  • Assist with distribution of marketing material
  • Assist at voter registration drives/engagement activities

Requirements

  • Communication, organizational, and writing skills
  • Solid understanding of Social Media
  • Basic computer skills (ppt., xlsx., docx., etc.)
  • A strong sense of creativity

Learning Outcomes: This internship will give the applicant the opportunity to:

  • Apply marketing theories to practical work situations
  • Enhance skills in producing high-quality advertising materials
  • Network with AACT partners
  • Track and measure all marketing campaigns

Community Outreach Internship

Based at: The Advocacy Alliance Center of Texas (AACT)

Job purpose: To organize and coordinate campaigns that will build relationships with new and existing partnerships.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Schedule/coordinate community events
  • Implement outreach strategies
  • Assist at voter registration drives/engagement activities
  • Update database
  • Assist in managing volunteers
  • Assist with partner/volunteer recruitment

Requirements

  • Communication, organizational, and writing skills
  • Basic computer skills (ppt., xlsx., docx., etc.)
  • A strong sense of creativity

Learning Outcomes: This internship will give the applicant the opportunity to:

  • Network with managers, CEOs, and other decision makers
  • Gain experience in coordinating and organizing events
  • Thrive in managing volunteers
  • Develop Skills in recruitment/retention of partners

Data Analysis and Research Internship

Based at: The Advocacy Alliance Center of Texas (AACT)

Job purpose: To develop organizational strategies, analyze data, and assist in finding various sources of funding for the organization.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Assist with reporting/managing metrics/evaluating progress
  • Database update/cleaning
  • Assist with Fundraising/Grant Applications
  • Assist with Public information request
  • Office maintenance
  • Assist at voter registration drives/engagement activities

Requirements

  • Communication, organizational, and writing skills
  • Basic computer skills (ppt., xlsx., docx., etc.)
  • A strong sense of creativity
  • Problem solving skills

Learning Outcomes: This internship will give the applicant the opportunity to:

  • Gain insight on accountability based metrics
  • Interpret raw data to ensure goal attainment
  • Gain knowledge in the process of grant applications and fundraising
